Agnes Yang
A Korean living in Minneapolis for about five years as of 2024. I go by Seonkyung Yang (ì–‘ì„ ê²½) in Korea. I'm nearing the completion of my research training in Information Decision Sciences at the University of Minnesota (yay!). My research has focused on how emerging technologies shape governance & market decisions, in the context of Blockchain.
I’m deeply fascinated by how different individuals come together to create something entirely new and unique (an external, collective outcome) and how that process transforms each individual (an internal, personal shift). The latter being nicely captured in Jung’s line of thought:

‘The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.’

In my free time, I love to cook, write, read books on psychology&neuroscience. While I grew up admiring writers such as Luise Rinser, Alice Munro, Françoise Sagan, Milan kundera, Paul Auster and the likes, I've increasingly realized that my deepest interest lies in the world of science and philosophy. Writers I cherish today include: John Berger, Oliver Sacks, William James, Steven Pinker, Yuval Harari, Albert Camus, Joseph Campbell, Joan Didion, David Brooks. Yes, in my spare time, I enjoy reading methodical books like How to Read a Book and The Flavor Bible while building my personal repository in Obsidian. My goal is to create my own kingdom of insight network—no joke!
